Interviewer asked Amitabh Bachchan: In what way does this injury changed your thinking in your life?

Amitabh Bachchan: In life there are people who want to know whether it was table or punch which injured… its not important how I was injured, what is important is lack of medical facility available… I was injured and what readily made me aware of these factors when I was in hospital, a fact that we sadly lack timely facility, for the people who are in similar condition when I was and I find we have the brains, we have talent to cope with any emergency but we lack in facility, we lack in equipment, and perhaps financed to set up the equipment.

When I was in hospital there was…I mean there was help coming from every quarter but I want to say say in all in modesty, there were doctors flown in from London, everyday there was medicines coming from Singapore, England and America because I had the financial capacity to cope with that…but what effect it was me but what effect it was an ordinary man on the street who was in a similar condition, would he have been able to afford it, what could had been his end and that was one of thing that was most distressing.

There was a girl I remember in beach candy with me, she was about 3 year old, she had been admitted for gangrene in her lower portion and one of the doctors attending me came and asked me, there are medicines coming to you every day from England , do you think is it possible for you to get a perticular medicine for this patient, who is almost certainly going to die, she is at that stage we cannot cure it now, and I said YES, medicines were coming every day, we got medicines for her next day, she was cured, she went home after 3 days and I was very happy for her.

And was distressed me was the reaction of the mother, when doctor went and told her, we tried a new medicine on you which was flown in for you and she was not worried about her child or about how it was coming, who is getting for her, she just said one thing who ever it is who is getting medicines for me or wherever it is coming from… Donot tell me the cost of medicines because I won’t be able to afford it, donot ask the person to tell me to pay off this medicine because I cannot afford and that was really depressing i.e how many millions of people are actually going to do this in our country.
